Mold Abatement and Remediation Services
Water damage response, structural drying, removal of affected materials and treatment of the remaining structure.
Mold is a symptom. Remediation that removes the growth without finding and stopping the water that fed it is a job you do twice. The work is straightforward when it is done in the right order: find the source, dry the structure, remove what cannot be cleaned, treat what remains, and verify.
Scope of work
- 01
Source and moisture mapping
Identify the water intrusion and map how far moisture has actually travelled — usually further than the visible staining suggests.
- 02
Containment
Isolate the work area under negative pressure with HEPA filtration so spores are not distributed through the rest of the building during removal.
- 03
Debris and water cleanup
Remove standing water and unsalvageable porous material — drywall, insulation, carpet, ceiling tile — and get it out of the building.
- 04
Structural treatment
Treat and clean the remaining structure, then dry it to a documented moisture content rather than to the point where it looks dry.
- 05
Verification
Post-remediation verification, with third-party clearance sampling where the client, insurer or building requires it.
The regulations that govern it
General guidance on the standards that apply to this kind of work. Requirements vary by jurisdiction and by project — confirm the specifics for yours before you rely on them.
- The IICRC S520 standard is the reference document most insurers, hygienists and specifications point to.
- EPA and NYC guidelines are commonly cited for containment levels by affected square footage.
- There is no federal mold licence; a specification that names a standard and requires third-party clearance is what protects the building owner.
